IFFAB 2026

The 11th Annual International Film Festival of Antiguan & Barbuda will take place from November 6th to November 8th. This year, the Film Festival will feature a variety of screenings, events, and activities designed to celebrate the art of filmmaking and promote cultural exchange and is a part of the CHOGM 2026 conference.

Our mission remains unchanged: to showcase the works of global indigenous peoples, highlight our local culture and heritage, and provide a platform for independent filmmakers to share their artistic works with the world. The Festival will take place on the beautiful and historically rich islands of Antigua and Barbuda, offering a unique backdrop for this cinematic celebration.

This year, we will continue our tradition of honoring outstanding individuals in the film industry with our annual Awards. The Awards presentation will be held virtually, allowing audiences from around the world to join us in celebrating these remarkable contributions to cinema. Stay tuned for additional information about the Awards and this year's honorees, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

Despite the challenges faced by the film industry in recent years, IFFAB remains dedicated to fostering connections and building partnerships to support the growth and development of cinema. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of our supporters, and we are grateful for any assistance provided to help us achieve our mission. How ‘Lovers Rock’ Cinematographer Shabier Kirchner Captured Love, Black Culture and Community

Cinematographer Shabier Kirchner shot all five films in the “Small Axe” anthology, working alongside director Steve McQueen. “Lovers Rock,” now streaming on Amazon, is the second film in the anthology and focuses on reggae music sub-genre of the same name which was frequently heard at house parties among the Black community. The house parties were a celebration of love and Black culture.

Antiguan movie “Trust” Takes Canada by Storm

Bridget Hanniford – Joseph has made a remarkable entry into the world of cinema with her directorial debut, “Trust.”

This cinematic gem was selected as part of the prestigious 2023 Canadian Film Festival, known as COMMFFEST. Following her previous short film, “My Time Now,” released three years ago, Bridget Hanniford has once again demonstrated her multifaceted talents, serving as the lead character, writer, producer, and director of “Trust.”

Television is clogged full of mystery series. HBO alone has had several breakout hits in recent years, including “Mare of Eastown,” “The Undoing” and the most recent installment in the “True Detective” franchise. However, with its singular location and distinct characters, “Get Millie Black,” the network’s latest five-episode limited series set in Kingston, Jamaica, stands on its own. Created by Booker Prize-winning novelist Marlon James, who adapted the show from his own short story, “Get Millie Black,” begins as a missing persons case and evolves into a massive web of corruption and violence stretching beyond the shores of Jamaica onto the streets of London.
